'65 hood missing latches
My 65 just failed inspection because the hood is missing latches and, though it closes and stays closed, does not latch shut as required by NH state regs. I have tried taking it in to two shops but neither one can find the parts. It is apparently missing parts on the hood and on the frame. Since this is up to me now and I am not familiar with vendors for classic Corvette parts, can anyone give me some good resources to call to find these parts? Thanks.

I am not sure what you mean when you say your hood closes and stays closed but has no latches (I am guessing you have no latches and no springs, so the weight of the hood is what you have?) Do you have the male parts, and just need the female latches?
Anyway, both Paragon and LICS sell the parts you need.

If it's latches, you'll need two of these, @ $45 each (Paragon PNs 1495 [L] and 1496 [R]), and then maybe you need the cable too?:
If you need the cable, that's a bunch of parts depending on how much you are missing (from the underdash handle to the latches)

The hood is original and the under-dash handle and cable are intact. The hood stays closed from the weight. I am not sure why these parts are missing.
Thanks for the replies.

Used to happen to me all the time on my old 62. You would think the wind would hold it down, but it lifted at the rear just the same.

I agree it will lift some, but it won't blow completely open and block your vision like a conventional hood. The General didn't install a safety catch like on a rear hinged hood.
Maybe if you back up at 40 mph.
