I am not sure you can call these Crand carbs remanufactured. These carbs are from a new run of carbs that Holley made.I always thought that remanufactured carbs were original carbs that had been rebuilt. These are being stamped by Crane to boost the price.Others are selling the same carbs without restamping them for $575.So not a bad profit for a stamp. As others here have pointed out the center section is much different from the originals and the metering block is not correct. As far as judging goes I had deductions on my original carb because a screw was not correct. So I am guessing that a carb that is easy to detect visually that has been restamped to try and fool a judge is not going to go over real well. The judges do not like attempts at forgery,ex. trim and vin tags as well as dulling of paint.

I just have to factor in one little thing. If you enjoy driving your car, this carb would work out well. I only had it on my 350hp vette for almost a year. It ran incredibly strong and and carbureted flawlessly ('cause Bob Kunz is the bench test man when it comes to Holleys!) It's the correct Holley...just a replacement carb w/out original date codes. If you have a trailer queen for judging, this probably won't work for you. Having said that, it only takes 15 minutes to swap out a carb!

p.s. I do have the '67 (unadjustable) Holley float bowls that came w this carb).

Carbs are allotted 40 originality points - 8 each for configuration, date, completeness, installation, and finish. Incorrect configuration and date will result in a 16-point deduction, assuming it's all there, installed correctly, and has the correct finish.

You can find a good restorable original dated carb for $500.With $300 to restore you end up with the correct, original and restored carb for the price that Crane is selling aftermarket look a like restamps

That sounds like the right way to go. Does a properly restored carb run as good as a new one? I do like to drive the car. Any recommendations on who does good restorations?

Completely agree. He just restored the 66-vintage Holley on my 67 and it runs perfectly and looks beautiful.
