The pics posted in this thread do show some tasteful, subtle flares,and they look pretty good. i still wouldn't put those flares on an unmolested C2, but I wouldn't take them off either if i ever got one of these cars. (unless of course is is all original/matching, blah blah except soembody put flares on)
I guess I am just an original body style purist, except for maybe an easy change like a '67 hood on an earlier car.

I've come to the conclusion that it does me no injury if someone prefers custom vettes or original vettes. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.
