Default Temporary Wheels

Anyone recommend rims and tires - CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP that I can use temporarily on my 63 convertible with original drum brakes. I will eventually get better but I need some rims and tires. The crager and miscellaneous I have now are both terrible and way too wide in back (removed flares).

I am willing to go to junk yard - just need recommendation.

Thanks in advance

Pierre

There are tons of custom wheel places all over LA. I would look in The Recycler and see what deals are going on.

Since they would only be temporary you might consider blems.

You are in luck with the '63 and drum brakes. You can put almost any wheel that has a 4-3/4 circle pattern to it. It was common to use the 14" custom wheels for regular Chevys on them as you only needed the 15" to clear the disc brakes and calipers, not the regular Chevy production drums.

About 1970, the full size Chevys went to a 15 inch rim and have a 5" circle pattern, as do the vans and pickups. These will NOT work. But almost any wheel off a Nova, Chevelle, Camaro, Monte Carlo, etc. will work.
