Default ignition shielding application

can anyone tell me if the ignition shielding, the large top cover is unique to each year 58-62 or if the piece was unchanged thru those years ? i have a 61 and am looking at some in ebay but dont want to buy one that isnt going to fit without being modified.
one more thing i've been told this top piece will bolt onto the 1969 350 motor thats in the car but you guys likely know if this is true or not ?

thanks-
Dan

Dan,
I don't recall just exactly how many versions there were, but there were TWO styles for 56-62 cars. There was an FI top and a top for carb engines. Within those two styles, there were different versions.
ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL FI tops will interchange, and all carb tops will interchange. For example, a top for a 62 with an AFB will fit perfect on a 57 with 2x4s. The main differences in the versions was the length of the front or rear skirts. As I recall, the top was the same for 61-2. I think the two verticals were the same and 57-62 spark plug shields were the same. The 56 spark plug shields were 2 pieces per side instead of 1 piece on each side.
At the locations where wing-bolts are used, they are all the same.
If you need absolute specifics about the shielding differences for different years, we'll need to have someone who is extremely knowledgeable step up, because those differences are minimal.

Most or all of them are different from year to year. Check an established Corvette vendor's part catalog for the different applications. The differences are slight. But noticeable, if you look. The JGs for the different years have pictures. Maybe some of the parts vendors catalogs do too.

I believe all the 56-62 carb ones will fit all carb models and all FI will fit all FI models. Carb and FI will not interchange. Don't know why the 56-62 models wouldn't fit the 63-67, or the 68 and up models. But you don't see these model years interchanged.

They're all repro'd now. And they all cost about the same. So you might as well get the correct one for you car.

I don't believe you'll find any bargains on EBay for these things. EBay does have damaged ones that go for $50-$90. But if you care about something like this item, you also probably care enough to get the right one and a pretty one. I bought 2 on EBay before I get rid of them and bought the right one from Paragon. Shoulda done that in the first place. It would have been a lot cheaper. Every time I open the hood, I'm pleased with this piece.

How's the air cleaner looking?
