ken, don't get caught up on date code on this part, it is under the splash shield (you can use screws to reinstall a missing one, or peen over some rivits) and in any event, is underneath the intake when installed. Do watch out for pipe plugs in the water pump by-pass hole (such will likely effectively be "welded" to the intake and not want to budge), bunged up threads for the carb studs, ditto for the t-stat cover studs, deteriorated surfaces around the t-stat flange, and hogged out plenums.

It is a NOS part. should have no issues. Missing splash shield and not sure that matters, Never seen a new intake with a splash shield.

All 461's, both production-line and service parts, had the riveted-on oil splash shield.

If you're going to block the heat crossover, I don't see where that missing heat shield will matter.

Holes are there, someone removed to get date codes and didn't put back on. Now missing.

Default Intake

I had a 461 and had heard how the front pipe plug could be frozen in the manifold. I had a guy who wanted to buy it but I didn't want to sell him a headache so I set it up on the front end and sprayed pentrating oil down on the plug from the inside every couple days for a month. The plug turned right out with no damage. You can't beat penetrating oil and time. I think the best penetrants are probably PB Blaster and Kroil.
