Stick with your Street Avenger. Why make more work of it when you have a lifetime guarantee. Use the time to do something else. Maybe another car, another toy.

I drive coast to coast with a 45 year old Carter and never have problems, which is why I stay with Carter.

I disconnected the electric choke. The old carbs really don't need them with the new gasoline formulation. That's the flip side of the evaporation smell at shutdown.

The only mod I made to the carb is a .020 hole at the base of the secondary counterweight chambers to continually drain them as the car runs, which eliminated 90% of the shut down boil out smell in the garage.

If you are still interested in a trade..., sure.

Is it gold iridite, or zinc coated? Note the one in my pic is zinc coated which gives it a nice shiny silver finish rather than the dull gold color. The silver makes for much nicer looking unit IMO.

Magic,

Tell us more about this mod. What are the down sides if any.

Thanks,
Plasticman

I`m basically a Holley user with the prescribed units for the engines. The Chevy LS7 uses a DP 850.

This A990 426 has a matching pair of 765`s right from the factory.

None that I have noticed in the years since I drilled the holes. I figured it was worth a try. You can plug an .020 hole with anything. No one can see it under the counterweight.

Look in the counterweight chamber after driving the car. See if it's full of fuel. Maybe I just flog my roadster harder than most people. (I do,I do!)
