you worked hard for it. And now it's time to enjoy it. I'm on a 36 month plan myself right now. That is I will be retiring on April 1, 2010. Since April is nearly gone, I'm down to 35 months right now.
I just got in from signing my last papers, turning in my keys, and running my ID badge through a shreader.
Monday I will do what I want to do.
BE CAREFUL!!!! The first year of retirement has many Traps! I ran around trying to do all the stuff retired folks do. Wow, was I tired! Best of Luck and Health!!! Al W.
retired when I was 49, went back to work for a year when I was 55 and now am looking for work again, I am one of those who miss work and I have a 16 year old
Thanks for all the good wishes!!!
To answer some of the questions-- I am 61 and have worked for a large drug co. that makes those blue pills that some men use as some body parts age. I have been a maint. supervisor and the more desk time that I put in at work, the more wrench time I needed at home. The nice thing now is that if the wife keeps the list short, i can spend all the time in the garage.
I am being forced out of the pilot's seat of our aircraft by the "Age 60" law after being a pilot for 37 years. I enjoyed my job and found it to be interesting and rewarding. I will miss it.
Enjoy everyday, it's time now for you to do what you want instead of what your employer wants..I've been retired 6 yrs. and love every minute..Congrats and again enjoy.
To celebrate my first day of retirement (Jan last year), I set my alarm for 5:50 AM, as I had done for years, for the simple pleasure of turning it off, rolling over and catching a few more Z's on what would have been just another work day. What a feeling! Still can't figure out how I got anything done at home while I worked.
Enjoy!!
Jeff
I'm pulling the final plug December 31, 2008, which will be my second retirement. Had 23 years in the Air Force, now the State of Arizona will start to contribute to my twilight years playing with the vette. I'll be 55.5, then so I'll have plenty of time to PLAY. Best of luch to all you recent retirees.
Basically, January 1st this year for me at 60 1/2. Tried, but couldn't quite make it work at 55. No way was I waiting until 65 or 66....one can fall over dead any time. I still do a little consulting on the side...when I feel like it....but its nice to have a boss that lets you take some time and play when you wish.....

Good for you. I retired after 25 years as a cop here in South Florida. I had worked part time for a company that restored Corvette gauges and I loved it. I would have done it as a hobby if I could afford it. Now I'm back to working 7 days a week, this time in my own little shop, and loving every minute of it. That's the great thing about being retired. There's a big difference working because you want to not because you have to. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I'm enjoying mine. Stop by my web site and say hello.
CONGRATULATIONS! I recommend it highly I've been retired twelve-and-a-half years - and have a couple of thousand CRUISES in - after 39 years at (W). The only way I know what DAY it is, is when I go out to retrieve the daily paper...and it's HEAVY...MUST be Sunday
