Default ignition switch

I bought a (Napa part number kS6175) replacement ignition switch for a 1963 swc with a lite??
The Loom plug fits. When lite is installed it wont fit in dash as the slot is wrong??
When park lites are on.
You can see a lite in old ignition switch
I am guessing its a reflection from other instruments??
Does a 63 have a lite on top of ign switch? Do I need one?

Yup, 63's had an illuminated ignition switch - see section 6, sheet C8.00 and section 12, sheet B9.00 in your assembly manual.

Default ignition switch

Thanx much for the info John Z
I was changing it cause I heard it was cure for a wiper problem .
I have with them not shutting off. I plugged it in and it did not change anything.
So I put old one back in.I think after doing some checks.
I need to clean inside of wiper motor and regrease.
My questions are not getting a lot of response as a rule .
I am trying to convey my questions a little better.
Where people can understand. I love this forum.

John:

Mine is a Nov 63 production car and the ignition switch itself is not illuminated. There is a separate piece that supports the light bulb which is attached to the rear of the instrument panel by a single screw.

I obtained a second instrument cluster from another 63 and it is the same. The light projects through the front of the instrument cluster through a shielded slot in front of the bulb.

Is the illuminated switch a March 63 change?

That's the piece that attaches directly to the original ignition switch housing with one screw, shown on both the sheets I mentioned above. Those sheets were issued in August of 1962. Most of the replacement switches just have a hole for a bulb holder to snap into, and don't have the provision to screw the original fiber bulb support into.
