I've owned our 67 coupe since 1973. I had lots more fun with it when it was just a car! (Although a Special one). Al W.

I think that level of unhappy customers would sink most organizations and it splits the hobby.

This forum is much friendlier with better info than the NCRS one.

By the way this may only be my opinion humble as it is. If I offended anyone, I apoligize.
Stall - my appologies also, mate - didn't mean to come across as so "sensitive". I guess things must be a little more laid-back over here in Aussie 'cos I've had nothing but positive experiences with NCRS-ers. Might also have something to do with the fact that we only have about 100 members in the entire country - and only about 15 here in Perth - so we're a tight-knit mob just out to help each other.

Seems like we see these posts about twice a year about NCRS and its judging etc. When I started my restoration over 6 years ago I posted the same thing in the same tone about NCRS.

Since then I have earned a 3rd Flight Chapter, Top Flight Chapter and Top Flight Regional...going for my Top Flight National. Notice I said earn, that is because I decided to use this as a LEARNING EXPERIENCE.

I also have learned some of the judging is very subjective rather then objective, and some points that are deducted are not justified. But that balances out when some points are not deducted that should be.

I still have some issues with NCRS because it is a RESTORATION not the NCPS "P" for Preservation.... I happen to think the cars being restored today, including mine, are better then when they left the factory. I did not go the Lacquar paint, but did the Base/Clear because it was easier to work with, give a better shine, and lasts longer. If I am going to spend over $15,000 for paint, then I am not going to chose Lacquar for NCRS but Base/CC for ME. I knowingly will take the deduction, because I want the paint to last.

NCRS does provide a good base for understanding the mechanics of how these cars were assembled. MANY MANY of the people are really good people, and if you take the time to stash away the pride and listen to what they are saying, you will learn. I not saying their word is the gospel, what I am saying is the NCRS has a very good knowledge base. If you know something that is wrong...point it out, I have never run across a judge yet that I could not reason with, and if I felt (and I did) the front line judges were wrong, I did escalate to the Head Judge, who happened to agree with me on several cases and I got the points.

Look, NCRS is not for everybody... Its one of the hardest things in the world to stand their as many eyes, magnets, and mirrors LOOK for something wrong....Your pride and hard work feels like it is beaten down, but if you truely are one who is eager to understand and learn, the try to swallow pride and have and open mind. Many folks want TF for $$$$$ but for me its knowing I did a GREAT job on my restoration.

One of my goals after the National judging, if I should earn my National Top Flight, is to become a 63/64 Judge.....and then drive the heck out of the car.... I have drawn the line and will NOT go for the Performance Verification, that is just pushing the limits of you nerves...I know what people go through...f

Funny though...I have noticed one pattern.... The people who seem to cry the Loudest and are OUTRAGED during judging are the ones who wrote a check and purchased the car ready for judging... Many of the folks I met that have worked on the cars and did alot of if not all the work seem to have a more open mind and accept this as a learning experience......

Sorry for long post, point of post is this....work hard and long and you will receive just awards..... I wish my car only had 60 points off.....
