You can find out allot from just pulling the pan and valve covers.
When I bought my 65 I had the same questions. It was an 010 block but what displacement? 2 bolt/4 bolt? What is this engine? I pulled the pan and got lots of answers. Crank casting number, indicated 350 forged steel, and machine shop engraving indicated it was balanced. Pink rods, windage tray, baffled oil pan, HV oil pump. I pulled the valve covers and found the 186 heads.
