I had to do the little alternations because for some reason I've got a miss-matched horn hub, see below. I'm a jeweller so I soldered a bridge of sterling silver onto the incorrect part. Hey, it saves me 40 bucks and shipping to Australia.

Can't tell 100% but in the picture it looks like the bracket on the back is missing the contact? I mean I see the contact and the tab is off to the left in the picture.
we had a similar problem with the L-shaped horn contact arm missing the plunger on a steering wheel adapter hub for the Ididit column i used in my 62. we ended up cutting the contact arm off and soldering a wire to the back of the cap retainer.
i never considered the possibility that the cap retainer might have been made wrong.....
