Default Original engine id

Hi all ! I have a 64 coupe with the 365hp option, my question is how do I tell if its the original block or not? The guy I bought this car from said he wasnt sure either ? Thanks Craig

Take a digital photo of the numbers on the engine pad and post them here along with the serial number of the car and the casting date of the engine. Someone will let you know if it is possibly the correct engine.

The casting # located on the driver side flange near the bellhousing is #3782870 and the date casting is on the other side with a 3 letter & numbers code. The engine pad located on the passenger side where the front of the head meets the block has two series of codes. One series has a VIN derivative and the other starting with the letter F followed by the assembly date of the engine and a two letter horsepower- trans code.

Example on the left of the pad 4104500 and on the right F1105RE.

Vehicle #4500 assembled Nov 5 with 365Hp w. manuel trans.
