Default BB Upper Pulley

Hi

I am hoping maybe someone may have the dimensions of the diameter and depth of a BB upper pulley. I am having an interference problem between the balancer and upper pulley and it is hard to measure it accurately while it is on. I use a double groove but I don't think that would effect the dimensions I am looking for.

From there I should be able to pick out a smaller diameter aftermarket one with the correct depth

Thanks in advance

Doug

hey sureshot

i am going to watch this for a bit and see if you can get some exact measurements from a manual or something.

if nothing comes i will go out to the garage with a flashlight, measuring tape and these crappy old eyes.

Hi 66L72

Thanks for the reply

I have been looking at the manuals and am not finding anything. The same pulley and 8 inch factory balancer worked fine but this hi tech balancer on the new motor seems to be a tad bigger than 8 inch.

Please don't bother trying to measure one in place. I was hoping someone might have one laying around.

Thanks

Doug

ok - one of the few times i have been able to provide help to someone.

this pully came of a 67 400hp. it failed because the grooves are attached to the hub. this is 3 pieces. when i ordered the replacement, it was all 1 piece.

the fit was exactly the same between the two of them, but i just wanted to throw that out.

as for measurements. it is 7 1/8 in diamater (maybe 7 5/32), but you get the idea. i'm gonna say that the depth as measured from the inside of the hub to the outter edge of the belt groove is 2 11/16, if you add in the thinknes of hte steel i would venture to say that it's 2 3/4 from front to back (outter dimensions).

also mine has a part number tamped in the front 3864480CV

is that what you need?

Ahhhh blessings to you and yours bro

That is exactly what I am looking for. That helps me a lot to pick out the right substitute that only needs to be a little bit smaller diameter with the same pitch

You helped to make my day

Thanks again
