Default Undercoating?

I have the body up in the air doing a frame off and my 63 has quite a bit of undercoating on it. My question is did GM undercoat them from the factory or has it been put on after delivery. Some of it needs attention if it should all be their. If it should be their I will dress out the ruff spots and make it look clean.
Any thoughts??
Ben

The factory only sprayed a stripe of undercoating about 10" wide above the tire in the front and rear wheel wells; the rest of the underbody was raw fiberglass. Anything more than that was applied later by a dealer - if you plan on having the car judged, it should be removed or you'll get a minor deduction.

After a lot of cleaning the bottom of my late 63 convertible. Lacquer thinner took must of it off with a scotch pad. In the heavier areas, I even used some gas on a rag which loosened it up. Took some time but worth the effort. I then sanded down and painted all the bracketry. Then used a q-tip with some lacquer thinner on it to clean off the heads of the rivets which were not painted. Tedious, but was worth it at judging time if that is the direction you want to go.

I don't see the requisite hole punched in the bottom of the storage trays where a U-joint or two has let go over the years during adventuresome driving. Real Corvettes have battle scars.

Just kidding - nice underbody.

Ahh, you mean this one that I did a while ago.
Note the difference in the color of the fiberglass from early to late 63.
