mini starter wiring
I bought a mini starter to replace the stock set up.
There are 3 post on the stock set up. There is a large post for the battery cable, (some other wires that I have not traced), there is an in board small post, and an out board small post. The application is a 350 w/ points.
The new starter has only two post. The large post for the battery and a small post. I assume this is the 12v energizer from the ignition, it is outboard.
It is my understanding that on the older version there is a bypass for resistance? Is it pink? I'm confused with the results of the search. Some say use a diode, others say it is not needed?
If I need a diode then just spice it in? Where do I connect the wire? If I don't need it then just "set it aside"? Do I also need to disconnect it from the coil?
I need some help in clarifying what to do please.
Thank you in advance.
