Like many others my first ride was a Ford. It was a 1951 Crestliner and I put a '53 Mercury flatty with a 3/4 race cam in it, dual stromberg 97s. Car was maroon with a 3speed O/D trans. Sorry no pics.
55 Bel Air Convertible, Gypsy Red and India Ivory, 265 3-speed. $4.00 worth of gas got me through the week. I was a senior in high school. It was 1962 and I paid $525 for it. Some of the money was savings from a paper route when I was 12. Seems like only yesterday... O.K. maybe the day before yesterday.

Alan
Mine was a 1923 Ford T-bucket hot rod. No hood, fenders, top, paint, upholstery, etc - but it sure was fun. Glass body, tube frame, 307 Chevy, Powerglide, etc. I started building it when I was 13 and drove it home from my buddy's service station on my 16th birthday - about an hour after I got my license. What a day that was!
I sold it about a year later to a guy from Michigan, and have not seen it since. Sure would like to know where it is now....
An 11 year-old '56 Ford with a 312 and 3 on the tree. Paid $75 for in in 1967 and drove it to the junkyard a few months later after two accidents in one weekend.
Switched permanently to GM with my next purchase - a '57 Chevy.
jet black, chrome window mouldings, 41 merc 3 on tree, merc downdraft carb.bought with first money made on the stock market when i was 15 years old.Turned the trunk upside down to make a rumble seat.
1976 Ford F250 4X4 with a plow for $1600. Changed the oil right away and blew the motor the next week. Dropped in a 390 - my first engine swap and drove it for 3 years until the bed fell off and the frame rusted through.
Sold the plow for $400 and then traded it in at the dealer ship for the taxes on a 1976 Buick 2 door. What were the taxes on a $300 car???
1972 Buick Skylark 350. Parent's bought it new in Nov 1971, it became mine in May 1978. I cosmetically restored it about 10 years ago and still have it.

I bought mine with paper route money Got up at 4:00am and had to be done by 6:30 to get ready for school i had 124 customers 6 days a week and then i got a Sunday paper route with 70 customers My grandfather took me around on Sundays sometimes
My first car was a 52 Chevy, 2dr coupe. Dark blue with blue and white rolled and pleated interior. 6cyl and 3 speed on the floor. I was 14 at the time and could not get a license until I was was 16. Spent the better part of 2 years driving up and down our street, got caught once and was forced to sell it. I found it about 15 years later sitting in a field, body and interior were still in decent shape. Tried to buy it off the owner but he wanted more than I could afford. (3 kids, wife and new mortgage)
I still have my first Corvette though, 40 years, (longer than I've been married)
I got to tell you something funny The 55 in the picture is my second 55 Ford. I bought the first one at 14 years old with paper route money (125.00 Christmas tips) It was 3 on the tree and i did not know how to drive . One morning when i got done the paper route I backed the car out of the garage and right across the street in the gutter.Mike the farmer was walking down the street to his farm .Mike was a big time swearer. What the f--k are you doing You do not know how to fu----g drive I will go get the f-----g tractor and pull you the f--k out Put that fu----g car in the garage and leave it there
My first car? 1959 Nash Rambler American which was a "hand me down" from my older brother who had just purchased a new '62 Impala SS, Honduras Maroon with a black interior. Lucky SOB.
The only redeeming virtues of the Rambler were the front seats that reclined fully to a convenient "bed." However, above-referenced brother delighted in removing the seat handles that performed that wonderful transformation on Friday/Saturday evenings and offer to sell them back to me for a couple of bucks. Remember, this is back in '62, and $2 would buy about 6 gallons of gas, so that was a serious dent in my weekend "social budget."
I paid this ransom whenever my date for the evening warranted such a preparatory investment. Ever hopeful, I recall forking over the $2 just about every time!
My first car was a 1959 Rambler American flathead 6cyl. Paid $100.00 to the guy across the street for it. He bought it new and just drove it to work and back everyday. I had to add 1 quart of oil for every tank of gas. I used bulk oil about $0.10 a quart in the glass bottles with the metal screw on top. Bought it at age 15 1/2 so I would have it when I turned 16 yrs old.
