Default radiator caps

Has anyone bought a replacement radiator (surge tank) cap that looks like the original? .. Are these offered in repro? ..

I'd hate to have to buy a Stant just because they look so 'Stant'. . ..

Most Corvette parts supply houses carry them.

There was a good discussion about this on the NCRS Tech Board. Below is the link.

You need a 307/13# - Paragon has an excellent reproduction (their #1783) with the correct zinc-plated steel finish (not stainless like the replacements and other repros).

Here's a another repop source: www.johnpirkle.com
I purchased a cap for my '65 L75 and was very pleased with it. Not inexpensive, though.

At what level, 3rd Flight, 2nd Flight or Top Flight? Makes a difference, ya know.

God Bless Tom, but As I stated in the NCRS Tech Board thread, I bought a radiator, overflow tank and cap from Tom a few years back and I got dinged at Chapter judging for the wrong cap. He still lists the incorrect cap for a 67, 327/350, non-AC on his website and sales brouchere. Here is the cap on my car.

Rick,
I also bought a radiator and cap for my 327/300 from Dewitts last year. You can't beat the radiator but the cap wasn't right. I'm still restoring so will probably buy another one before I'm done. I'll check out Paragon.
Good luck mrg!

The repro cap sure looks like a convincing 'original'. .. It would be interesting to see a pic of an original cap vs the repro to discern the difference(s) between the two.

The product description and pic of the '63-'67 radiator cap, as shown on both Paragon's and Dewitt's websites, shows both caps that appear to be virtually identical to one another. This might seem to suggest a 'one source' manufacturer supplies these repro caps.

Not to be overly **** as these repro caps do look really good. .. .. I just figured since my '64 now has a 100% new 'original' DeWitt's radiator, mated to a 100% new 'original' DeWitt's surge tank, it would be nice to top of the works with a 100% new 'original' radiator cap. .. ..

In the link I posted for the NCRS TECH BOARD, it was mentioned that Long Island had the best repro cap.
