replace shifter
a new compitition plus shifter is $460 + installation kit.
the rebuild service takes 4-5 weeks.
the only problem is (since thsi shift stick is welded in place) if i choose the rebuild i will not have the flexibility to put n stock looking stick in the future if i want to with out replacign the entire shifter assy then.
i put that part # into summit racing website and their price is $212
Looks like i will be purchasing a new shifter..
it is a straight stick vs the curved one i have now,,, i guess that should be OK ???
i don't like the straight stick, it puts your knuckles too close to the console ***** in R, 1, & 3.
try ebay first for a shifter that has a removable stick, that way you can put the 'stock looking' bolt-on stick on it; i have bought several shifters off there very reasonably.

Bill,
I checked Ebay but no older type curved handled ones there.
Mike,
Can't you use you old installation stuff. All you would need is the new shifter mechanism. Can't you order one that has a curved handle to stop from hitting you knuckles on the ***** on the dash center? Might want to look at that. I believe that all Hurst units mount the same, so they should work.
