Seems like there are several questions pertaining to this subject lately, we must be feeling the pressure to have our cars completed before the nice weather is upon us.
Have installed the rear sections which fit very well (thx. to Al Knoch), laid the front sections in and noticed that I may have to trim the sides - to fit under the console & armrest as well as the sill plates.
How much of the carpet fits under the sill plates?
Can anyone let me know if this is the case? Do you typically trim any other sections of the carpet?
Regarding the hi-beam switch, does the smaller of the two diameters of the rubber trim face outward?

NOT MUCH ROOM FOR ERROR UNDER THE CONSOLE, MAYBE AROUND 1 INCH UNDER THE CHROME ARMR.
How much of the carpet fits under the sill plates? YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH ABOUT 2 TO 3 INCHES, THE CRITICAL TRIMMING OCCURS WHERE THE CARPET TUCKS AND CURVES AROUND THE KICK PANEL. ONLY TRIM A LITTLE BIT AT A TIME, YOU CAN ALWAYS TRIM MORE.

I just completed installing carpet in my 63. I got mine from Wilcox (19 pieces) instead of Al Knoch. I only had between 1/2 and 3/4 of an inch under the sill plate. The front floor pieces were the only areas that I had to trim. The drivers side was tricky. Once I pushed the carpet in over the dimmer switch and mounted the gas peddle, I didn't have too much room to play with. My situation might be different because I have speakers in my kick panels. Regardless, don't worry if you have to trim in a few spots. Good luck.
