The "1 31" ahead of the Ident Number is the date the order was received/accepted at the plant.
The "C2 Firestone tires" was a common item back in the early 60's - many customers wouldn't accept a car built with U.S. Royal tires (due to their poor reputation), and the dealer could code the order such that the car was built with any tire brand OTHER than U.S. Royal. When I was at Willow Run in '64-'66, that code (when specified by the dealer on the order) printed out on the Chassis Broadcast copy as "Akron Tires Only" (all other brands of tires were made in Akron, Ohio, but U.S. Royals were made in Detroit).
I've never seen the second document, and can't read it.
My, how things have changed. Now, I wouldnt put firestones on my lawnmower. A shame how American companies lost their focus and ultlimately their companies.
The second document is the one the dealer filled out and sent to the Zone office requesting that the car be delivered to the customer at St. Louis ("Plant Delivery") instead of being rail/truck shipped to the dealer; the customer got a copy, which he had to present at St. Louis in order to take delivery of the car.

Was this the C2 version of the "Museum Delivery" option available today?
Would the customer recieve this document if he was to pick his car up at the plant? I noticed that the Firestone tires are not listed. I assume that this is the Car Shipper form JohnZ mentioned. Was the Silver Leather Seats and Blue Dash a popular choice? What a bargin for $80.70 [IMG][/IMG]

Yes, he would - the Car Shipper was in the glove box when the car was shipped, or plant-delivered. For a car shipped normally, most dealers just stuck it in the deal folder or threw it away; few gave it to the customer.
Any thoughts on the Silver LeatherSeats/Blue Dash? I have yet to see another in a silver car. Here is another piece of paperwork. Where would it come from? [IMG][/IMG]

Certainly a rare combo and in my mind (maybe not John's) a rare letter to see today.
Seeing these documents is really great. Wise Chevrolet is still in business at the same location as in 1964. I've been past it several times but never have purchased from them. http://www.wisechevy.com/
Does the Corvette museum even have stuff like this? I was probably too busy looking at cars to notice. But I sure dont remember a letter like the last one.
