When I got my car back together after a frame off I hooked up the battery, ran the engine came back a few days later and car started up fine. However the next week it had a dead battery so I charged it up and disconnected the battery when on using it.
Today I hooked up my multimeter and found I had a 1.628 amp drain with everything turned off. Disconnected the main lead on the alt, pulled all fuses one at a time, disconnected both harnesses at the firewall but still had a 1.628 amp drain. Hooked everything back up.
Next I disconnected the Batt lead from the horn relay and amp drain went to .002, I hook that back up and disconnected the A/C relay and resistor but still had a 1.628 amp drain. I than removed the Alt/Reg lead from the horn relay and the amp drain went to .002 so I hooked that back up a disconnected the regulator and the amp drain went to .002, hooked that back up and disconnected the alternator regulator plug and again the amp drain dropped to .002
So it appear that my problem is isolated to the alternator or regulator. The regulator is brand new (electronic) and the alternator is freshly rebuilt from a local electrical repair shop.
Any ideas what is bad or why it is doing this? Sorry this post got so long.
since you reg is brand new electronic, maybe you have the one you removed? if so, plug it in and connect a ground to see if the new reg is the problem.
