Does anyone have experience with speaker magnets close to computers. I want to install a speaker in the kick panel of my '61, BUT I have already installed the EFI computer under that panel. Will having the speaker magnet 4" from the computer be a problem.
My friends think it is no problem. Magnets only affect magnetic media, such as hard drives and not data stored on the chips as in the EFI computer. I'm not so sure.
Any information would be very helpful as I do not want to cause myself another headache by erasing the computer.

I doubt you will have a problem - in the old days (like the '60s) computer memory was truly "core" memory....a bit of magnet with wires through an iron circle (core) that recorded a single binary bit of info: "0" or "1". A magnet nearby would wreak havoc with this arrangement.
Now its the equivalent of transistors embedded in silicone which are unaffected by magnets. Most 'boom boxes' have magnets on their speakers and have integrated circuits and memory operating within a few inches.
