Ok, so I FINALLY got my car back from paint (it was way to long, please don't ask) and now some of the holes for the emblems are covered over with paint and who knows what else... What is the best way to open up the holes??? Drill???
I would use the smallest drill bit in a hand operated drill, to drill through the center of the hole from the back side.
Then using that little hole as a locating hole, use a larger drill bit from the front side, again in a manual drill (not electric) to slowly enlarge the hole.
I had to do this on my 62 when we forgot to have the emblem holes opened up prior to paint. They had been filled in a previous life, and I got to open them after the car had the new correct paint on it.

Joe, Using a small drill and progressively opening the holes is good advice. And, I never use the mechanical fasteners to hold the emblems on. You will find that a dab of weatherstrip adhesive on the emblem posts before insertion keeps them in place. This way when you wax the car they can be removed to keep from having white paste in the details of the emblem. Al W.
