Default Cant get turn signals to work

I replaced my dash and turn signal harness on my 66 coupe. Im pretty sure everything is hooked up right. I have the schematics I bought from dr rebuild. I have a brown female end wire that sits behind the dash. Dr rebuilds soo eez schematic says that female end is a radio capacitor conn. on ign sw. Does this mean it connects to the back of the ignition swith or the radio? I looked behind the radio but i did not see a spot for it. I took off the ignition switch and saw a spot that maybe it can connect to but that means me modifying the female end of the brown wire. I also see the directional signal plug, its a purple wire and a brown wire. There connected to what looks like a relay. is this correct or is it sopose to go some where. Do I need a relay on my fuse box? Thanks for the help guys.

It connects to the capacitor. If the capacitor is missing from your car, you don't have to worry about it unless an NCRS judge gets too nosy. There are several capacitors installed in cars equipped with radios. All they do is prevent an occasional click at the speaker.

I believe you are looking at turn signal flashers. The one hanging from the brown and purple wire connector sits in a metal holder on the LH console side panel. The fuse box does not have one. If you have the optional 4way flasher switch, the flasher for that plugs into the back of the switch.

Does the flasher have to be grounded in order to work. Does the basket on the panel act as a ground?

No, the flasher is not grounded. Check for voltage at the brown wire, or if you haven't already done so, just buy a new flasher. They are cheap.

If the one in your car does not have a DOT spec on it - save it. NonDOT flashers are usually original.

No, it connects to a radio noise suppression capacitor that's mounted adjacent to the ignition switch (if you have one). Don't let that brown wire flop around loose - it's "hot" any time the key is in the "on" position.
