I'm really surprised at the poor performance so many folks are complaining about in PG equiped cars. While my current '66 coupe with a 300/PG can't run with the "big dogs" I've never been embarassed by it. However, my former '64 coupe (also with a 300/PG) was treated to an intake/cam/header modification and was pretty quick (high 13's) at the drags. I have a great picture of it doing a smokey burnout at Carlsbad Raceway many years ago. If I can scan it (I'm not super computer smart) I'll post it here.

An update to a couple of questions asked.

Checked the trans fluid and it is over the full mark by about a 1/4 of an inch on the stick.
Looked very clean and no burnt smell.

Tried to brake torque it and it fell on it's face and died out at 1600 RPM's.
Second time, 1500 RPM's and died out.

It was up to operating temp.

Wow. It sure seems like timing or a vacuum advance issue to me. Are there actually 8 plugs in the motor???? LOL

there must be something wrong in the converter, IIRC that should stall around 1800 to 2200, being that tight at 1500 means the motor is not developing any hp and very little torque.......

Regardless of the torque converter, your engine should not stall when you run it up against the brakes. I'm not sure what you have wrong here but if you fix the engine stalling, you'll likely fix your "issue" with not being able to spin the tires.

I'd be looking at the carburetor for the "stalling" issue if the engine is actually dying out.
