This is concerning the light bulbs in the clock...all of my bulbs in the whole car work except the 2 in the clock..all bulbs are new.
my question is this..does the clock need to be plugged in to the electrical supply and the bulbs be pushed into the housing to work...i know i am probably wrong...but what i am thinking is the housing is another grounding portion of the electrical system.
Bulb will NOT work without grounding. Plug it in to the clock.
so what your saying is make all connections "plug in the clock" including the bulbs into the housing?
I should be able to turn the light switch to activate all interior lights?
No Jack, that's not he's saying. The clock does not have to work, but the bulbs must be grounded for then to light. The bulbs are on a seperate circuit from the clock. The lights only come on when the light switch is pulled on. Hope this helps, Bill.
Jack, first ascertain the bulbs do in fact light. take them out and connect to a 12v. source, or even a 9v battery, if they glow, then plug in. If as you say, the other lamps light, then you do have a good ground on the cluster. They should work. Bill.

its the little things i dont think of...like trying the bulbs in another socket
Not sure if buns and DZ mean that they have a separate ground wire or if they have the same set up my car has.. My 66 gets the lamp ground through the two wire clock connector. There is no separate ground wire. I leave my clock disconnected (thats a whole other story). But I have made a jumper to go from the ground wire in the clock connector to the grounded lug on the clock. Now the lamps work fine, without having to run the clock.

The clock has its own ground wire, as it is mounted in a fiberglass panel. 20 gauge black wire with a female spade terminal.
