The shocks are Bilstein shocks.. no flat part, but it prompted me to look closer and see the allen head at the top... Thanks. Amazing what you find when you turn on the lights in the garage.

Nope.. But at my Young age I've found that Vise grips and Crescent wrenches are there to do the job of the correct tool. You are most certainly available to disagree... This is just my opinion..
as mentioned above, a 1/4 inch wrench will work. but i have owned the snap-on socket for like 30 years. it makes installing the upper mounts a breeze. it gets way easier with koni shocks, they are stiff. try pulling one out at half stiff in a vice, yes. they are adjustable. go with koni's,they are the best.
