Default interior paint

Can anyone recommend where to get some spray paint to re-paint interior parts such as kick panels, shifter console, gauge cluster etc? I have a 65 with black interior. I checked Corvette Central and Ecklers and I didnt see any. Thanks!

Look for interior dye. But, like Dave said, black is black.

Jeff I used SEM Trim Black #39143 on my cluster ,glove box,and console. Its available from most automotive paint supply houses,or you can order it on-line from ebay or Amazon.

I just used "Fusion" plastic paint in the greenish can from Ace Hardware...worked great in black for center pod, kick panels, etc..

Jeff:

The biggest issue may be the getting the correct gloss level. For 1965, interior black has a 60 hi-gloss with Ditzler code #DL-9248 or DuPont code # 88, and a 3 lo-gloss (flat) with Ditzler code # DL-9292 or DuPont code # 4466-L.

You can try to get locally at an automotive paint store using the codes I provided. If they don't have lacquer paint, they can probably cross over to an acrylic enamel. Bring a couple of interior parts with you to match up the desired gloss levels.

You can also order from Tower Paint at www.towerpaint.com using the codes I provided or use their color charts/codes for 1965 Corvette. However, they should be the same. They sell in pints, quarts, and in custom packaged spray cans. They should be able to mix the correct gloss based on the codes and past experience.

You can also buy from TCP Global Paint at www.tcpglobal.com. They carry just about everything and also have the 1965 color charts/codes.

TCP also carries automotive interior dyes.

If you don't use now, file this info away for future needs.

The interior paint is listed as interior dye. I purchased mine from corvette america. Only comment is don't buy too much. You cannot return due to shipping hazards.

I have used Volunteer Vette dye on my carpet and even my metal dash trim/winshield molding with satisfaction. I think you will want to clear coat it after applying it to any metal, it almost looks like vinyl when sprayed but the clear coat makes it have some extra gloss. My carpet was in good shape after 5 years but had sun fade so I tried it and bought another can. this is since June. I have tried to scuff it off the carpet and it seems to adhere good, no bleed or transfer onto anything yet and the carpet remains soft/plyable after I applied it. I will use rytes dye for my seatbelts though.
