I assume the pictures that no longer show in this thread are victims of the recent Photo Bucket scam. Those people should have their nuts nailed to a stump and then kicked over backwards for that stunt.

Well put and I agree. Not a scam, but too bad for all the pics that have been posted on different forums and will disappear. I have all my pics saved to my computer, but I don't have the time( or patience)to go in and replace all the pictures I have posted over the past 15 years. Fortunately most Forums and groups are their own host for pictures, so this situation should not happen again.

They own the rights provide access or not to the content once you uploaded a photo. They have the keys. Lets say photobucket goes bankrupt and have to shutdown their servers. Where is the scam????

It is a photo hosting site like many others that make their money off of advertisers. However, if you want to use it NOW for linking YOUR pictures to threads like this you NOW have to pay $400. They sucked everyone in and are NOW trying to take advantage of people that may have eliminated their original pictures to replace any that can no longer be seen in these old post. If you don't call this a scam I would like to hear your definition of scam.

Where is the original source? Who owns the original source? Its not photobucket's concern to backup the person's own content on their own device.
They can charge whatever they want to charge. There are other options to use for content hosting.
To tell you the truth the people they are hurting is corvetteforum... New corvette owners will get frustrated unable to look at older examples which means new topics will now arise and probably less people providing examples since the people trying to help will get more frustrated with going out to the garage, taking photos and providing examples once more.
Sorry for the off topic but you are out-of-line calling it scam.
Old drag pictures are cool!
some gassers:
Also, I am not trying to start anything just think about what you are saying regarding scam reference.

How is this a scam? They own a company that allows you to upload photos. The intent is for you to upload data to there, store your pictures there, BUY prints from them, and agree to their rules in uploading and using materials stored on their computers.
As you are not paying for anything unless you buy prints, you have no say in how the operations are run.
They sent out a notice and changed their policies, no doubt because instead of uploading 100k size photos like when it started, most are uploading 2 to 6 Mb size photos or larger. Also, you are now posting those links elsewhere, so each time someone views that photo on Corvette Forum, Photobucket has a huge chunk of data transfer that they have to pay for.
Regardless of what you think based on your home internet or your cellphone wireless plans, data transfer across networks is NOT free. It costs money. They paid for it previously by advertising they placed on their site. With the massive increases in data transfers, the costs have cut into their profits too much, so they changed their policies.
The new policies, I believe, still allow you to upload for free and view online for free. I can still see mine for free. But if you try to view it through a third party site (linked to CF for example), then you must pay.
Just because you didn't read the rules, didn't pay attention to the rules, and are "surprised" at what has happened, don't call it a scam, because it isn't. No one tricked you. No one did anything illegal.
Definition of scam

a dishonest or illegal plan or activity, esp. one for making money:
She was involved in an insurance scam, collecting on false accident claims.

That is like storing everything on "The Cloud" only. "The Cloud" literally is someone else's computer.
Personal storage is cheap. Buy a 1 Tb drive at Best Buy for $60-$70 and backup everything you have. This way it is on "The Cloud" and at your home where you can get it if anything goes wrong with the Internet or the storage hosting service.
Better yet, buy two drives. Stick one in your bank safe deposit box. Keep the other at home. Every week or two, depending on how much new material you create, get the one from the bank, synchronize the two drives, and then put one back in the bank for safekeeping.

I found this one last year but I haven't been able to talk him out of it yet. It's been outside for the last 10 year or so.

I am looking at Bill Truby collection of mostly Keystone Raceway and Pittsburgh International Dragway, both in Western PA. A lot of Corvettes, makes me wish I had raced more often before joining the Navy.

Here is a picture of my uncles 57 that was raced in Michigan during the 70's, The Gorilla. I would love to find this car, please reach out to me if anyone is familiar with it:
And here is a later picture of my 63 racing, I was the only street driven car in my class back in the mid 70's:
