Default Sidepipe Quieting There is a solution

I like to write follow up notes following work that I have done or do on my 66 L79 vert. I know that I appreciate it when other do the same.

A number of weeks ago I had issues with my Ignition timing and finally resloved that with the help of the members of this forum and now the car has never ran better and I have been driving my car frequently since.

This Spring I had contacted one of our members "MasterDave" as I had been following his procedure to quiet down the level of noise (Music) coming out of the Sidepipes and was impressed but yet skeptical with what he had done.

I bit the bullet and took the 3 hour drive down to visit and dropped off my pipes to undergo the surgery. Dave and his wife are great people and Dave explained the whole procedure along with starting his 64 so I could get a first had listen to how the modification would sound afterwards.

Well as soon as he started his car I was sold. The turnaround time on the pipes was extremely quick and the level of workmanship was top notch.

Now after driving my car for some miles, I can report Dave has another Satisfied customer. The sound is still lively, but very pleasant and at Idle very soothing.

The BARK of the exhaust is all but gone and I am left with a very healthy Rumble. I can hold a decent conversation now with my passenger and even listen to my stock Radio

By no means has this modification turned my car into sounding like a wimp mobile, but how I feel they should have sounded all along.

Well, I just wanted to once again give you all a follow up to another one of my projects ticked off the long list.

If you want to learn more about what Dave does to the Sidepipes just run a search under his name MasterDave to view.

Well folks, I think I will go out and take my little 66 out for a run now.

Stay safe.

I like them loud; the louder the better, in fact.

The Chinese (no kidding) pipes I received from Corvette America sound better than I ever could have hoped for.

By that I mean really, really loud.

I just took my 66 on a a1800 mile trip with side pipes... Didn't bother me, top up or top down, and I listened to the stero from my IPOD the entire time..

Side pipes are just perfect on the mid years

Don't get me wrong gentlemen, these aren't quiet like undercar type mufflers.

Still load when you step into it, just not that tinny, bark that the aftermarket sidepipes sound like.

Well just my 2 cents.

Take whatever you want from it.

I'm with you. I love the look of the side pipes, but can't take that loud raspy sound. When I was looking to buy a C2,I passed on a couple really nice cars, because of the side pipes. If Dave's modification would have been around then, I probably would of bought one of them.
