62 shifter boot????
I bought an gm shift boot from a chev dealer more than a few years ago and was in the process of installing it when much to my suprise it was about an eighth to 3 sixteenth of an inch small all the way around the trim plate. Do they shrink or are you supposed to stretch it to fit? I guess a fine bead of black silicone would work, otherwise it'll be a dirt trap. Whats up?

If it doesn't have a metal band embedded in the outer lip of the boot, it's going to pull out of the lower left corner of the trim plate when you shift to 3rd gear.
I don't know what real GM boots were like, but many years ago the reproductions started including this metal band in the boot to help it stay in place.
