Default Adding transistor ignition.......

I would like to to add a factory TI system to my 67. Already have an amplifier and a distributor. What else is needed and what is involved in making the switch?

Thanks,
Rex

I did mine many years ago. You have 2/3 of the parts necessary. You now need the harness. They are available from the harness reproducers such as Lectric Limited. If I remember correctly, they come with the connectors needed for the conversion. You have to crimp on or solder 3 connectors onto the existing harness in the car, remove the ballast resistor, and just hook everything up. The 67 assembly manual has the procedure listed in section K-66.

P.S. The factory filled in the ballast resistor mounting hole with a piece of Dum-Dum.

You also need a TI coil. Points type coil won't work.

67L36Driver is right--I forgot about that. Repro TI coils are readily available from many sources.

Does anyone know what the ohm measurements should be on the TI coil? I have a repro coil but I am getting some strange resistance measurements, but they are different from my other points coils.

Primary resistance -----------.38-.51 ohm
Secondary resistance---------8200-12,400 ohm

from the '67 CSM.

My cheapo Sears multimeter cannot get an accurate read on the primary.
