I'm surprised in our litigious society that Chevy can get away with creating an "obstructed view" back window, regardless of backup cameras and the like.

It looks like a cross between a Cadillac and a Nissan. I don't like.

Bat Mobile from the rear. Don't like the split rear window. Bad idea in '63, bad idea now....

Without rear cameras the idea should be dropped...Horrible rear visibility in a 63. That window is only admired by those that have never driven a 63 no farther than to winch it on and off a trailer. In the real world it was good riddance in 64.....

Please enlighten me as to what he did to the Camaro. I've seen a few up close and they seem real nice. I don't follow these designers so I wouldn't recognize any of their names, so what I end up learning is from here. Thanks.

I think Peter Egan in Road and Track said it well; whether you like the new Camaro's styling depends on what kind of toys you played with when you were growing up. If you played with Transformers, you're likely to love it. I didn't, and I don't.

The same will probably be true with the C7. Personally, I'm worried they're gonna blow it.

Dokk I read a article on the design of the new Camaro and it said that the head designer had a choice of a more retro 69 look, or a more modern European look. Much to the chagrin of most Baby Boomers, he chose the latter, with a little 69 influence. That being said,I have seen many new Camaro's at the car shows, and the Euro look has grown on, me a little...... but I still think it could of been better. I must admit,I do like the Camaro's interior more than the new Mustang's interior. There was a SS hugger orange with black stripes that was sure drawing a crowd at the show a couple of weeks ago. Has anybody heard any 1/4 mile, 0-60 times on the SSII?

I have to disagree. The very first thing I noticed when I bought my split window was "where's all the awful visability I heard so much about?" Sure, its not great, but Ive driven at least a couple cars that were much worse. It just didn't bother me one bit, and I drove that car a lot.

Guess I'm the odd man out...I like the C7 except for the ridiculous rear flares....they need to be toned down or redesigned. Looks like cars did when the era of the tail fins was finally coming to an end.

I even like the new Camaro and no, I didn't play with transformers....

There are plenty of cars out there with worse rear visibility. Hell, there are plenty of trucks and vans that dont even HAVE rear windshields.

To me the first phot in the post, the overhead shot makes for a terrific looking car. From the side...ehh, and the back end seems to radical for actual production. But that's what I said when the Pontiac Solstice prototype and Plymouth Prowler were unveiled and they stayed pretty true to the original design.

Now as far as driving a '63 coupe with that dammed split...The one piece back glass is so enormous that it's not really a fair comparison to the view from inside a SWC. I have driven one for a few days and I found it to be a bit of an annoyance but that's all. And then I parked the car and walked away, turned back to look at the car from the rear and decided that that view from outside is worth the annoyance from the inside.

Ray ( my '66's got da big back glass)

hmmmm.... it must be tough to see out of the front too, with that 'obstruction' on your hood... (see avatar)
