Hello! I'm new here. Have been a car guy since 1949 but haven't spent much time zeroed-in on Corvettes. I know, I know BIG MISTAKE!
In any event, could use a bit of help with a current project that concerns a 1959 Corvette. This may involve an urban legend of sorts, but here goes. Was there any kind of option, factory or otherwise, that involved the installation of chrome front suspension pieces? I'm under this vehicle when lo' and behold - CHROME A-arms & sway bar! My client is a Corvette hobbyist who bought his car from a CA Vette dealer; he says the dealer told him chrome suspension bits were an option in '59. Otherwise she's a very nice F.I. Powerglide car, righteous in every way.
I would have your client call the CA. Vette dealer and tell them that he or she told a big LIE anmd that your client will tell his dealership name and also tell everyone that he is not telling the truth about cars he is selling or he can refund XXX amout of $$$$. Your client may get some $$$$ back. Worth a shot. OH, the answer is NO Chrome front suspension parts. That was

Gm barly carired about the underside of any car. you were lucky they had a little black paint on the frame that was asphault based that lasted only a couple of months or udercoating that helped the rusting prosces on metal cars. chrome cost more $$$ so its a no brainer.

As everyone is stating it is just BS. When did GM ever have any chrome chassis parts? Just made no manufacturing sense what so ever, but nice try by someone. Man some people have you know what
It's hard for me to imagine anyone even believing that salesman's BS line. I'd certainly let the dealer know I'm aware of his salesman's lack of integrity and truthfulness.
