Default Winter

Put the hardtop on my '60 last night for the winter with the help of my son who is in town for Thanksgiving. It's a hartop only so it gets cold with the top off. We took her out for one of her last long rides before winter sets in. I never put it up on blocks, but always find at least one nice day each month in Missouri to take her for a 3 mile drive and keep all the gaskets from shrinking. With a heater delete you have to bundle up for those drives. I used to put it up on blocks for the winter, but after 27 years of owning this machine (only in rain twice - both times coming home from the show in Bloomington), I've found it likes to be run. I used to store it with 100LL aviation gasoline until I found out it will eat up rubber in the fuel pump, so now I use racing gas from Wise Speed Shop and it runs like a dream on it. I'm reaching that point in life where my gas gauge is approaching empty, so I'm going to drive it as much as I can.

Smart move and your car will reward you. Drive em' or sell em'! I would suggest you drive it more than 3 miles. That does not allow the engine to heat enough to evaporate internal condensation, ( forms sludge) or exhaust to heat enough to evaporate condensation in the mufflers, but most of all, it gives you, more miles of smiles. Default hardtop only?

If you have a soft top, it is best stored with top up. Some people recommend don't even leave it folded overnight.

Winter's a little different here in central FL. Will probably go swimming today, tomorrow Turkey Rod Run. However, temp's will drop to 50 in AM. Break out the long johns!
