It could possibly be a factory grind out and re-stamp . There are lots of them out there .

Bill, Al's service is only available to current owners of record. So if you don't own it, he cannot help you. Been there, done that.

I blew it up and compared to others I have in my tiny library of stamps. I like the stamping..varied character depth, position of stampings on the pad, deep stamp, aged metal at the bottom of the stamp, correct character style. I think the pad surface got screwed up by someone sanding the paint off the pad. I think you can see that if you take a look at the traces of orange paint in the bottom of the stamp characters and the traces of paint near the head. Looks like it was sanded off.

Now, having said that, Al Grenning is the ultimate authority on motor stamps and many other things like documentation and trim tags. No one argues with his opinion and no one has proven himself more knowledgeable thus why he is the most sought after presenter for Bloomington and NCRS. If this important for you to know, pay the man. Whatever his opinion given to you, there is no other place for you to turn. algrenning@aol.com. Booneville, NY

Factory grindouts were done with disk and die grinders. I have had both..originals...on C2's anyway. I saw the grindout demo at Flint also in 1991...neat. Gary
