Hi Ray, something seems to be missing with your information. I've read in one of my reference books and on the forum that there should be a letter-number (or double letter) for a month-year code. The "E" would seem to be for May but thought there should be a number immediately after to represent the year. The AS4 is the Plexiglas code or some type of supplier code but does not have any date code value. Do not have my books handy as I'm away from home presently. Some experts hopefully will chime in. I need to unwrap our hardtop and see what we have as you have me curious. Edit: Just read JohnZ's note about double letter and location.

It can be found in th JG but I do not have one for my car.
Neither would it be any help if the top is not a 65 top if I would look in the JG for a 65.
I bought this top on ebay last X-mass and have no clue what year it was from.

The plexiglass does not always determine the date of your hard top. Glass could have been replaced. If you can look under the headliner, you will actually see the date stamp of the hard top.

Unfortunatly the date stamp is unreadable due to overspray from a previous paintjob.
I have tried to remove the overspray but with no luck.
Its not the original hardtop to the car, although I belive the car originaly came with one.

My one hardtop says AS-4 5 63, so it is May of 1963.

Here is what corvette by the numbers states for 65

"The optional hardtop is manufactured of acrylic and contains a "PLEXIGLAS" trademark, a month date code, the word "Acrylic", a year date code and an AS-4 rating. The month date code will be either a number or letter (so, I would say the "A" after Plexiglas on your top stands for - January), while the year date code will be the last two digits of the calendar year or a letter code of "D" for 64 or "E" for 65 (so, that would mean your top is from 65 - "E"). Put it all together and it looks to me like you have a January of 1965 hardtop.

This thread is 12 years old.
You will be much better off to start a new thread. The answer is an easy one , someone who knows will be along.

I'm afraid the code you show in your pic is not an original C2 window. "ACRYLITE" is a trademark of Roehm America who I believe also has the Plexiglas trademark now too. You can google the names and get some info if you're interested in the history. I would guess your window is an after market made in 1982 from the stamp.

I did some research years ago and put together the pdf file below. It's about midyear hardtops and window codes that may be of interest.
