I narrowed it down to the new spring i have on the carb throttle return plate ( possible cause) ....when I touch it the idle comes down. I have a Holley 2818 carb and notice the plate the spring hooks to has 2 separate hole locations, wonder if this could change it a bit or should I remove the spring and pre- expand it a couple of times?
Took project L36 out for a test drive Friday and she stuck at 3500 RPMs with the stock spring. "Scary Man" Made a B-line to my FLAPS got a HELP spring and cut it to lengtrh. Work like a charm now!
Safety if first on this. Experiment with different springs (hardware stores have good selections) and see what change occures. Double check for binding or catching on some other object. Don't forget about the amount of tension required to hold a steady speed. It could become uncomfortable to drive for any long period of time. Dennis
lol...floor mat is a non issue since i signed the Toyota waiver!!...
It is pretty scary when your expecting one thing and something else occurs...lucky I was quick on the clutch or else i was going to slam into my house!
I'll try some different springs to see how it changes the rate of return..
Not the floor mats or pedal assembly. Probably corrosion or a glitch in the "software." I'll bet it didn't even set any engine codes, did it?
Personally, I've seen my PC do too many weird things..., so why should a car be any different? The computer in the car should be even worst with the environmental issues and vibration it is exposed to. No way I would trust my life to one. None of my cars are "drive-by-wire." Can the drive-by-wire Vettes be far behind?
I've seen throttle stick because of the oil pressure copper line interfering with the linkage. One area to double check to ensure there's enough clearance during the full travel of the linkage.
2 springs? That would certainly would add some tension...I'll add that to some trials.
Sticking has happened pretty much at 1800 rpm or so............just wounder if this has much to do with the spring not completing its full contraction...I'll have to get out to it on the weekend...another toyota prius went bonkers today...maybe I'll make the news too and get GM to recall all 64's...
