Default Poly Lock Problem !!

I have been working on the rebuild of engine. We opted for a roller setup and the poly locks will not clear the stamped steel covers. My question is will the stock aluminum finned valve covers clear these rollers? Anyone with suggestions...I am definitely open to them.

You may have to use two extra thick cork valve cover gaskets to get your clearance. I think that ARP or another company makes a shorter poly lock that may help. The factory aluminum covers aren't any higher.

Here is an example of the short (.860") ones http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRN-99795-16/

Thanks Scott! I really would like to keep the original look going and keep the stamped steel...so I will research these more.

Scott has given you good advice: 5/16" thick gasket and short poly-loks will work. That's the combination I have on one of my engines that has full roller rockers and stamped steel valve covers. No problems, ever.

I'm running full roller rockers on my BB with stock valve covers. I had a special set made with no drippers inside. Good Luck!

I seriously doubt you will be able to get the poly locks to fit under the stamped steel covers even with doubling up on the gaskets. What could possibly resolve this problem would to reduce the overall height of the poly lock to clear the stamped valve cover..

Just paint them the same color as the engine.

I'm running regular size polylocks under mine with one thick vc gasket made by Mr.Gasket and no drippers on the inside. No clearance problems at all. If the drippers present a problem, you simply can cut them off.

I think he is speaking of the small block 300 hp valve covers.
