Default Shock recommendations requested?

Anyone have any recommendations on a good shock for my C2? It will not be a canyon carver just a cruiser.

Thanks for your advice!

I've got a set of the Delco gas shocks in my 64 with the stock rear spring and like the ride just fine for cruising. Depending on what rear spring you use (stock, fiberglass, what tension ??) you will get a lot of varying answers. Check the threads, you will find quite a bit of info. Pilot Dan

I use the Edelbrock performers. They have a variable valve system that works very well. Tight in the turns, forgiving on the bumps.Easy on my fiberglass.
In my opinion KYB gives a harsh ride on everything I have had them on. No more for me.
Konis are great. But they are expensive and have to be removed to adjust.

Any conventional shock made by delco is crap. All my delcos blow within 30k. As in fluid leaking from the seals. They have always been the weak link in every GM car I have owned. You probably won't be putting tons of miles on it. So maybe that won't be a factor, if you choose Delcos.
Where you live plays a big part. When I lived on the family ranch and did a lot of highway driving into Houston. My brakes, shocks and tires would wear three times longer than when I live in town. 15k miles in the inner city is like 40-50k miles on the highway. My .02 cents.

That's a huge over exaggeration!! I've been driving with them for a few years now and no problems at all. OP, it will depend on the type of driving you are going to do. If not performance driving, you should consider the Delco's for basic cruising. They are not too stiff and give a comfortable ride for highway and basic cruising in my opinion.

No exageration. Just relaying my experience. Use whatever makes you happy.

I have just finished my buddies 63 split window. He put Koni Gas shocks on his car and painted them grey just like the originals. They work absolutely great.

I bought Bilstein HD's for front and rear, but replaced them with Koni's which I've not driven on yet. The Bilsteins weren't as firm as I wanted, so they're available for anyone wanting to use Bilsteins. PM me. True the Koni's need to be removed to adjust, which could be a PIA. I have KYB's on my truck and they are sweet!

They would be my first and last choice. I just couldn't justify the cost for my driving needs.

Hi, I'm back too-->. Koni's are the best hands down. thats what all the top racers have run since the the late 60s (3 turns from stiff to super stiff makes any car solid) i run super Ds on several cars (no longer made), Dokk bought 4 Koni classics, he adjusted them to "almost" super stiff.... he wants to drag race again this year (thu s the new short block build, the new Isky cam install. he also likes auto-X, so he bought big sway bars, Koni's and those crazy track auto X tires.

DOKK, we assembled your short block and degreed in your new Isky roller cam (that was a pain do to a stupid dial indicator problem)

but the rest of the build wen't great

I started with Bilstein sports. Too harsh for me. Tried Konis. I really liked them but I like to play with the adjustments. Taking them off although not difficult a bit of a pain. I switched to Spax externally adjustable. 22 clicks of adjustment. I am very happy with them.
