You've got that right--one of the Corvette specialty dealers here in Dallas has (or had, I dunno because I haven't looked lately to see if it sold) a Safari yellow convertible with a 3 speed. They dropped the price a couple of times already.
BTW, I'm one of the powerglide people (cannot work a clutch pedal due to a physical issue) and had I not found my 67, I actually considered making the dealer an offer on the 3 speed car with the plan to drop a 4 speed auto trans in it. I figured that I would not be creating too much of an abomination, converting a 3 speed car to an automatic
