There was 22940 67 built and 22516 had an optional 4spd or automatic trans. That leaves 424 3 speeds. I had a friend that had a 67 coupe that the only option on the car was a AM/FM radio and it had a had a 3 speed. I helped him change it over to a 4 speed.

However, I read that only around 3% of them came from the factory with 3 speeds. Most ppl opted for the four speed and some for the auto (don't know why, guess they couldn't drive )
My '67 roadster has the original 3-speed that came with the car - verified by the VIN stamp, tank sticker and original invoice. It's a cast iron all-syncro (first gear too) Saginaw - the all-syncro feature being a change from earlier 3-speeds. The car had what I think is a weird set of options - PS, PB, Vinyl HT, Speed Warning Sensor and White Walls - almost like someone forgot to order a transmission upgrade.

High-compression Chevy V8's have so much power, you don't really need four forward speeds for any normal driving, especially when the three-speed comes with a synchromesh first gear. Same thing could be said about the fast and rugged aluminum-case Powerglides. Racer/tuner Dick Guldstrand has been using a 300hp PG '67 coupe for the last 25 years as his daily street driver.
my friend bot a new '67 Coupe 3 speed radio delete silver with black interior, his son still owns it and it has 34,000 miles on it... oh ya, in 1968 he offered it to me for $3000. but i bot a new '68 Chevelle instead!
