Default '61 Clutch Anti-Rattle Spring Location

I am getting a rattle vibration occasionally felt through the shifter. I have the anti rattle spring ready to install. One end of the spring obviously connects to the hole in the rod. I can't tell where the other end of the spring goes. The assembly manual shows it going near the clutch fork but is unclear in the drawing. I did not see a hole in the clutch fork. Does anyone have a photo or better detail? Thanks Larry

That spring won't solve your shifter rattle.

The correct clutch fork has a small hole in in for the spring, IIRC.

The shifter has its own anti-rattle spring, you may need that too.

Photos below show the clutch linkage with the spring, and the clutch fork - note the hole in the fork just inboard of the slot and holes for the pin.

Great photo John. I could not see the hole with all the muck under there!

John Z.

Thanks for the graphic. I think now I can cure my rattling issue since I have the spring and now I have the location it needs to go.

Update: 7/3/12 - I forgot to mention that I installed that spring some time ago and like magic, my clutch fork rattle disappeared. Thanks again.
