Default Two C2s Per C4

I took the '91 on the Tour de Orange this morning with about 300 other cars. Including mine, there were only three C4s present, but over half a dozen C2s in attendance.

Now, when I go to car shows, I should be taking my '91 because there is far less competition than in the C2 class. Looks like C4s are the new C1s.

Please don't use C-4 and C-1 in the same sentence. It's degrading to the C-1's.

Now that's unusual. Around here (car shows, cruise-ins) C2 are rarely seen. Just not many of them around.

When I take my 96 GS people think it's a modded C4. When I take my 66 it's just another midyear. When I take my 54 game over

Toddalin,

Not even close to often I would ever make a critical statement about vette body styles, but....

A C4 is the ugly Step Sister in Corvette generation family.

Taking a C4 to a meet does require guts....

That's like leaving your good looking girl friend sitting at home and taking a Fat ugly girl to the Prom, only to find out your friends tricked you and there is no prize for bringing the ugliest date, while they all brought Pretty girls...

You are the one sticking out like a Sore Thumb, with a Black Eye to boot.

I'd rather be caught dead taking a 74-77 C3 to a meet...

How many C3's were there?

One, and nada C1s.

As per the rest of your post, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Our '91 was bought new for my wife (now has 63K mi) who had to have the Turquoise Metallic paint with black leather interior. To her, that is the most gorgeous color combination ever offered. And we do get continual comments on it, because of the color. The car has every option offered with the automatic transmission.

As for the cars themselves, the C4 is light years ahead of the C2/C3 in terms of EVERYTHING except perhaps straight line accelleration when compared to a pre-smog BB or SHP engine. BTW, when I drag race my built '64 (293 RWHP on the dyno) against my wife in the '91, she turns better 0-60 times even though I get ~8 mph more at the top end. Our '91 has run high 13s (with an automatic) in stock form.

Too each his/her own.

What a divisive and ignorant set of statements. There are many GM designers who think the C4 generation was one of the better Corvette designs that matured the bulbous and ungainly predecessors into understated elegance. And the C4 generation can claim ownership to the BEST engine design of any generation - the LT5.

All Corvette generations have their fans - as well they should - and while some may have preference for one over the other, this large scale near hatred for some of the generations would make some to think we were driving Mustangs - or worse - Hyundais.

I am proud to have a C4 - a 1995 ZR-1 sit next to my 67 435HP coupe in my garage. And I don't think anyone can call the following unattractive:

Here here. C4's ugly?
I think not. Strong words. I don't feel that negative about any cars, not even a ford or a ugo. If I don't like them I usually just ignor their presence. From the coke bottle shape of the C4 to the clam shell hood to the LT5 these are beautiful cars.

I've had 2 C-1s, 2 C-2s, and 1 C-4. I'd love to have a C-6, but I'd also love to have a '53. Low HP C-3 from the mid 70's? I'd be proud to have one of those. Aside from most of the radical custom jobs we love to comment on, I can't think of any Corvette I'd be ashamed to own.

To me, they're all Corvettes and each great in their own way.

Well said. Some comments sound exactly like the C6 owners at the local Corvette Club, they's even starting to look down their noses at C5's.

Beautiful Z.
Tod's too, I've always liked Turquoise Metalic.

I've had 6 C2's and am proud to have a C4 sitting beside my 67 Coupe.
I drive a C4 5 days a week unless it's snowing. For $10k, what would the snobs be driving?

bb6,

Corvette's looks of any generation are not something that get my panties in a WAD...

I'm one of those ignorant people that really never bought a car based on engine, well for the exception of my 2006 121,976 mile VW Jette. It was bought for the engine's MPG, not HP or for it's beauty...lol

While I'm a passionate car guy and have been since my first car, I'm not a person that you would call passionate about any model or Mfg. They are just toys to play with to me. Corvettes are not my life an I have no problem letting one go, are not having one sitting in my garage.

Only new Corvette I've every owned was a 69 Coupe that had over 120,000 miles when I sold if for 1/2 of what I paid for it in 73. Only problem with it, was it went though 3 of those long nose water pumps GM decided to go to in 69. I bought it becasue I like the C3 body style better than the C2 at time.

I've owned 3 more C3, all 1978 4 speeds. Sold the last one of those in 91. Bought them because they were cheap.

I've owned 1 C1, a 58 that I loved the look of but became a pain to drive when I let my weight get up to 290lbs. Sold it in 1991 too after owning it for 8 years.

First C2 I owned was a 67 vert. 67 is the only year model C2 I really like, and that's because they finally got the front lower fender vents right. Just improved the looks so much over GM's other attempts. I'm not caught up in BB vs SB either. Honest, I like SBs to drive as BB need too be parked.

Sorry too 63 Split Window guys, but before you get your panties in a WAD too, read on, they may get too wadded before you finish reading, an realize there was no need to have done that...

I have a 66 but it's been redone to make it more drivable and get away from it's bland red color. I know that's heresy to call a red corvette bland, but it's like owning a late 60s to early 70's home with Avocado colored appliances still in it...LOL

Then there is my 64, that I'm thinking is not going to fit your idea of what a 63-67 vette should be as it's a conglomeration of parts from all generations of Corvettes and C2 model years, with body modifications to try and up date it's classic looks to a more modern look that I hope will get the attention of both young Tuner Car crowd as well as the middle age crowd so maybe they will buy and old beat up one and bring it to their modern world later on too.

I'll be proud to have that 64 parked next to my 90 HP 2006 TDI Jette... Nobody but another TDI owner will come over and talk to you when filling it up, and then they only want to know what your Fuel Mileage is...

I have no problem if people don't like the 64's looks. I don't expect everyone to like it, but hope some do. In fact when it's finished, I want people to give me their honest opinion on it. I'm as interested in what people don't like about it as I am about what people like about it. Bad reviews want hurt my feelings, an I want be stupid enough to call them ignorant if they do...LOL They are just being honest folks.

When the C4 84's came out I was disappointed in it's looks. It wasn't until the C5 came out in 97 did I start to notice Corvettes again, and not just for their looks, but it's leap in solving squeaks and rattles that plagued 1953-1996 dated frame designs, with it's new frame design.

The LT5 is a beautiful looking engine. Far better looking than a BB 427 rat motor. A C1 or C2 Fuelie is what really gets my attention when looking in engine compartment.

I don't like having to park a car and lift hood to try and get people to come over and look at a car either. I would prefer to keep the hood closed on both my 64 & 66.

I'm not into chrome in engine compartment either. I'd much rather see a very neat engine compartment with no flash to try and get my attention.

I don't want and engine to be center of attention, I want the aesthetics of the body to be the center of attention.

Call me ignorant, but that's what people see the most and what I want them to be attracted too... They might not notice the engine, but a nice looking body or a really ugly body will get people's attention...

A bland one want.... If you don't think that's true an I'm just ignorant, just remember which types of women you really took notice of the last time you were at Wally World (Walmart)...

I'm sorry if C4 owners are upset about my opinion about body's design and think my post was divisive and ignorant set of statements, but I'm just an Old Southern Farm boy that speaks his mind, punctuated with , to try and show I was smiling and grinning when I wrote that post.

I respect your right to think that, but I hope you are not stupid enough to think I really took offense to your statement with this post....LOL I'm smiling as I type, because I really think I could **** the Pope off too...

PS: Stupid is only used to puncuate Ignorant... One is curable, while one is terminal... Where is the Pope when your need him, just in case you haven't figured my thoughts out, and I need my Last Rites given...lol
