WOW that's a cool suspension design and execution, and yes, the fabrication does amount to "jewelry". I would love to have access to something like that for my 63 Z06 vintage race car......and I HOPE that (after all this work) you are actually gonna race or track your finished car. BTW what brand of sliding spline halfshafts are you using?

[QUOTE=jim lockwood;1576900126]If done correctly, it gets rid of the rear bump steer inherent in the trailing arm design.[ /QUOTE]

The toe link helps reduce bump steer.

Also FYI:

The 2 trailing arms allow increased (and adjustable) anti-squat. I'll bet with the monster motors Greenwood ran, that was necessary.

Eliminating the halfshaft as a control arm allows better control of camber and allows reducing the jacking effect (from C5 SAE paper 970097).

Beautiful fab. work.

As eluded by Jim Lockwood and redvetracr . The design is not new. A friend (Pier Paolo) did the R&D for this cad design . I'm enjoying the fruits of his labor. Although it still allot of labor. Bob Riley & Dick Guildstrand should be included in the engineering legacy for sure.

The telascoping 1/2 shafts were manufactured by a HD 4x4 driveline bussiness TATTONS-DRIVESHAFTS. They "dared me" to break them ! Has Lifetime warrenty on the shafts (not the u joints)

Default Crossmember mounting tabs

A company sell's Re-forcing Tabs to keep the differential mounting bolts from pulling through the crossmember

.

So............ ever striving for OVERKILL.... 2 2" channel ....a little trimming to fit through the hole ...... Not bad...."

Default Weight

Hey good idea......... Ill grab the scale ....right at 38 lbs ...So add the Wilwood rotor and caliper ...should be far less than stock TA assembly with rotor and Iron caliper .

Van Steel says Stock:
Bare T-Arm - 10lbs each
T-Arm assembly w/out rotor - 42 lbs each
T-arm assembly w/rotor -57 lbs each

Hy Sting....

I'm very happy you are finishing the job!

When you will be ready for test drive let talk about it.... I have to share with you my direct experience!
The most critical thing, like you can imagine, is the optimization of the pivot points of the toe link!

I'm very curious of your feeling with the mod!

Right now I have no problem at the race track with C5 and C6..... the Z06 is a strong competitor.... but now I'm working on fabricated front spindles for bettere king pin angle and less scrub radius!!!!!

Stay in contact!!! :-)

ciao mio fratello italiano Pier Paolo: Molte grazie a te ... mio fratello italiano

I will certainly do that my friend. A first hand experience tuning this will be much appreciated ! It's been a long project ...I must say. But it's looking to be well worth it. Spring wise I have a cut down (Narrowed) Fiberglass Spring from VBP, but still considering Coil overs like yours. It's finally starting to come together.

prendersi cura sempre il mio amico

Default Progress ??

My friend at work completed the machining on the cross member Urethane bushings.......... but also have to weld in the sombrero supports brackets first ...then things will start moving again.

Default Almost on the ground

Had a major delay with other projects but have some updated photos. Shock mounts now welded in and ridetech shocks installed . Luckily spring clearance is acceptable.

Incredible.

You're going to need a really good driver and an engineer to get all of this working properly. You have an incredible amount of adjustability in this system. The problem with adjustability is you have as much chance of getting it wrong as you do of getting it right.

Maybe rent the new NCM track for a week?

Thanks for the Tip . Should always error on the conservative side. The design is sound and tested on my Italian brother Pier Paolo (Stroker-427's ) autocross car. I'm hoping , after a full chassis wheel alignment, the most Ill have to deal with is Spring rate & shock dampening changes. But just think... GM ran with near original design for 19 years that Toe'd Out under acceleration. squirrely burn outs

Stingxray,

Are those shock mounts a one off production. I know I would buy a set of those for my coil-over system if they were or are available. When I look at how well made they are, it leaves me drooling.

A lot of great engineering has gone into your package. Keep the updates coming. I luv seeing guys going to these extremes to create a better product for themselves.

Oh how I wish a vendor would make somthing close to these brackets. Approx. 12 hours work fabbing these. Square box tube was a close width for the saddle, but still had to resize. Then the 1 inch bar stock for support And a captive threaded end . Thanks for the comp too

I snapped a few current photos for you guys . Its a rolling chassis and now working in the XFI fuel injection . The motor is a detuned 410 Donovan winged sprint motor. No it wont be running on Methanol.
Hilborn is converted to EFI ..another long project. I have a new name for the car . 63 Sprint Window

Very impressive pics of the rear end, as well as the rest of the car.

Looks sooooooo damn nice and functional! I'm still in for the 2nd set if you need to get rid of them.

I finished my GS last summer and I must say it turned out better than I'd ever hoped for. Apart from the new Ridetech suspension kit, I've pretty much tried them all and the Guldstrand system has been the biggest improvement so far. It really makes the handling predictable and a lot more fun. I ended up making new upper shock mounts to get extra shock travel and that really brought the whole thing alive.
