I researched this pretty thoroughly and yes there are some electric washer motors that can be made to work. Not real easily and not real prettily.

Default Windshield Washer Pump Repair

Hi Frankie,

Trying to get the windshield wiper washer pump on my '61 repaired and saw your note below but was unable to make the URL work for me. Do you remember who the guy was that rebuilt your pump or can you resend me the link?
Much appreciated.

Lou

To repair the coordinator was about $70...he rebuilt my washer pump but I'd have to find the receipt. I would assume he rebuilds the washer motors and transmissions but can't swear to it. I did my own transmission using restored units from a swap meet. My wiper motor was restored by this guy: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/58-62-CORVETTE-WIPER-MOTOR-RESTORATION-RESTORE-SERVICE-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2eb1b746dfQQ itemZ200550074079QQptZVintageQ5fCarQ5fTr uckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

which included restoring the external finish for $199.

All told the price was probably comparable to the price of an aftermarket wiper arrangement...and most of those don't include a washer system.

I never had the switch rebuilt and I run with a repro vacuum can that came with the vacuum valve already installed on top.

Frankly Steve - if the other parts of my car weren't so original and correct I'd have bolted in a RainGear or some other system and be done with it.

Call Tom or Jay Maxwell at Capital Auto Restoration 301-948-9481 or 9482. They restore the windshield washer pumps and other related parts.

No problem.

The online vendor repair 'kits' are cr@p and don't work.

Tom and Jay are about the only real pros left on these old pieces; they've made their own repair 'jigs' and even some parts to make sure the rebuilds work properly.

My rebuild has been on the car for about 6 years -- still works like the day they sent it back to me...

Your right about the repair kits, went that route. One key problem was trying to deal with the lengthy rivets that hold the unit to water canister.

Now I'm trying to find windshield wiper arms. My set has the patent numbers on them but they are not chrome at the base. Seems like working on the car is - where do you stop? I keep finding things to "make right".

I'm not sure what year the Fed's made GM go to 'non-reflective' wiper arms but I have seen another '62 with the dull arms/escutcheons on (wmf62's on here). They may be correct - can't say.

I'd do some more research before I swapped 'em out though

Didn't know about the requirement to go to non reflective arms. Thanks, I will pursue that.

The non-reflective arms with the "satellite" or "satin" finish weren't required by MVSS until September 1, 1966 and didn't appear on Corvettes until mid-1966.

This thread has helped me figure out what my wiper motor is missing, evidently the coordinator. The wipers work fine and I don't think I'm ever going to hook up a washer system. However, I would like it to look original even though it won't function.

Anyone know where I can get this coordinator, working or non-working? I don't see them available at the repo houses. Am I missing anything else on the motor?

Working or dead those little coordinators have jumped up in value. Not reproduced to my knowledge; you'll have to source an original somewhere. Here is one:

What's that square plate with the serrated white plastic **** on it just to the left of the wiper motor?

A makeshift junction block when I converted to an alternator. When I redo the engine bay, this will be redone using the ballast resistor.
