Before I saw the Blue Oval clue, I was thinking a Mickey Thompson-modified Tempest 4 cylinder, 194.5 cubic inches with a four-barrel. The manifold looked like it could be horizontal, coming out the side of the head like a HyperPac Mopar slant six four-barrel set-up.

I got lambasted for suggesting a Pontiac in a Vet...

A Pontiac 455 engine, as all Pontiacs, look like a big small block Chevy

The Caddy on the floor went in my '51 Ford (set back ten inches).

Very interesting thread guys, thanks. A lot of ingenuity went into these swaps. A buddy of mine just finished his 55 T-bird in that robins eggs blue. Outside it's a 100 point Ford, inside.....all Chevy!

Nice BMW application. Thanks to all, hope to see more submissions. The Forum was incomplete without the 40-years-too-soon Stude-powered Obamavette.
My mind has been made up for many years to stick my personal favorite engine, a 1970 500 CI Cadillac in my C2, come next rebuild. It's actually lighter than a BB Chevy.

Driving my mom's '67 Eldo 429 up steep hills, few cars could stay with the torque monster, despite over 5000 lbs. I figure the same engine in a 3000 lb. C2 should spin the 12" rear tires easily in Drive at burger cruises.

Nope, RWD. I want an overdrive automatic. Far as I know the 2004R (as in Buick Grand National) is stronger than the 700R4.

I had a local trans shop build and install a 700R4 for my 327/300 coupe. Within 8 months, it had to come out twice due to failure. Seems ok now. Good thing I chose to put in a removable cross member the first time, rather than pull the engine when it was first installed. I read later that the 200 is a smaller case, so I would prefer that, and it's just as strong, or better.

This is the "Speed and Custom" magazine from December 1963. Above the magazines title it says "Holman & Moody create a 427 Ford Sting Ray!".
There's a 6 page article about a guy from Florida who ordered a new split window, and took it to NC to have Holman & Moody (the then factory Ford NASCAR team) have a 427 Ford installed in it.
The front crossmember needed to be notched to clear the crank pulley, the oil pan was modified to clear the stock steering and stabilizer, and a remote oil filter was located on the top front of the engine. The car used a Ford "explosion-proof" aluminum bellhousing, a Ford 4 speed transmission case with Corvette gears installed in it, and the Corvette tail shaft housing mated to the Ford main case.
I'm guessing that this was the first ever 427 Corvette, of course it's probably been restored to a "machining numbers" fuelie split today!

I remember back in the early-mid 1970s there was a guy who raced a mid-year Hemi powered Corvette at New England Dragway (my local track where I grew up). The car was a white convertible with a bolt on hard top, tubbed Dana rear and was named "The Vanilla Gorilla". Has anyone ever heard of (or seen) this car ?? It was low 9 second quarter mile car.....

The install was done in the summer of '63, when the few Cobras in service were almost all 260 cubic inches. Even with the 289, street Cobras were no quicker than a 327 FI C2.
The light, small-block Cobra's road-racing advantage was in braking and cornering, not acceleration. Corvettes would catch and sometimes pass them on long straights, but the Cobras would regain the lead in the turns.
The 427 Cobra did have an unbeatable power-to-weight ratio, but it didn't come along 'til a couple of years after the 427 Ford Sting Ray hit the streets.

At a car show today, there was a Ford Falcon with an engine transplant that was, um, "interesting":
Sure made me walk away scratchin' my head.
