Default Walter Berg RIP

Folks,

Sadly my father passed away this past February after a 2 year bout with dementia. It was a long road and he is now at rest. I really appreciate all the kind words about my father and the accolades for the Corvettes he built. He and and a few friends started the the NJ Chapter of NCRS (see Birth of a Chapter written by Ed Denapoli http://www.cnjncrs.org/Dec_2011.pdf if interested).

My father leaves behind 3 mid-year corvettes, two of which will be passed along to each of my two sons. He wanted each to have one of the cars he built since my sons helped him with each of the cars. The red 64 will remain with me being the last car my father restored.

I am currently in the process of freshening up the Red 64 as we speak since the car sat in the garage for the past two years.

-Thor

I did not know him but living in the metro area and being a Corvette owner I have heard of his work.
Reading what you wrote here it sounds like he must have been one heck of a guy.
He is leaving quite a legacy for you and your family to enjoy in the years to come.

I'm really sorry to hear of your fathers passing.

I joined the Central Jersey Chapter, shortly after the Chapter was formed. I had some friends that were already in the Chapter (Greg Norton, Kenny KWK, and some others), but Walter was the first person to befriend me, at the first meeting I attended.

I haven't been active in the Chapter for a few years, which I guess is why I hadn't heard of his passing. Again, I'm really sorry to hear of his passing, but it sounds like your sons will have a wonderful remembrance of their grandfather.

I still keep in touch with Greg and Ed via email. Really good men as well as some of the others in the chapter. The grandson's have very fond memories of my father putting them to work on the cars. Those skills will now come in very handy!

Thank you for your condolences.

I am so sorry of the passing of your father. He always made me laugh, "Silver Fox" I called him. I remember the cruise nights in Freehold next to Burger King,,,,,,,,,,,, rest in peace

Thor we've never met but I hate to hear Walt has passed. He has thru the years given me great inspiration. He came up in conversation today out here at the Auto Fair in Charlotte.

I am sorry to hear of this. He always was able to help many in their restoration efforts and I always went to look for him when at car shows

RIP Walter

I was saddened to hear of your Dads passing. He was an awesome guy and captivated my son when we were at the Sir Walter Chev. Corvette show a number of years ago.
The Corvette world will be just a little less without Walter Berg on this planet.
I must admit that I sat here for a while and got tears in my eyes thinking about some of the stories he told.

Sorry for your loss, but he is in a better place now. May he Rest in Peace.

Fred
