Just got back from the NCRS national in Novi MI, what an amazing week it was!
They had many great side trips to GM facilities, and excellent guest lecturers like Ken Kayser and the guy in the photo below.
Ken spoke on the evolution and manufacture of the SB and BB's, he had worked in Tonawonda for decades. A fascinating talk with many original drawings, dyno sheets, and photos, extremely interesting to me to see the evolution in design and manufacture of these engines.
The picture guy also gave an amazing talk, he spoke for almost three hours on the St-Louis plant, and the build process of the C2 from Fiberglass panels to finished car.
Like Ken, he also had many great vintage "insider" photos, I guess spending a career as an engineer in automotive manufacturing has it's advantages.
The recollections of a few of these alumni and their pictures would make a heck of a book.
I've long wished John would make some CDs of his photo archive, if not write a book, particularly now that Noland's has become much more challenging to deal with than it would have been if Russ had been allowed to finish his project.
THE man, John Hinkley himself!! We are so fortunate to have a man who stood amidst those assembly lines and who can articulate with facts just how and why these cars were assembled.
That venue was just great for this convention. Was there on Wednesday and just enjoyed walking around obeserving the judging process and enjoying the cars on display.

John is a class act and a real asset to the Corvette Community as well as this forum. He always takes the time to answer questions. Definitely my go to guy when I am stumped

For those who may be interested, the three PowerPoint files that made up my Midyear St. Louis Assembly Process presentation at the Novi National Convention have been posted today for download on the Michigan NCRS website, www.michiganncrs.org. The files, in presentation sequence, are:
I didn't use a script, but there is also a .pdf text-only file that covers the entire process, operation-by-operation, from the birdcage to the shipping gate; it's about 27 pages when printed:
CorvetteAssyProcess.pdf
You'll find them on the right side of the home page, under "Seminar Downloads"; you can download them and peruse them at your leisure.

FawnDuece & JohnZ - maybe you could create a new thread with a more direct title?
Mods - maybe make it a "stickey"?
All - this is a TTT for some great info - check out post #10!!!!
